Last summer, Harris thought he was simply being proactive.
At 76, feeling strong and symptom-free, he scheduled a routine stress test at HealthAlliance Hospital, a member of WMCHealth. Instead of reassurance, he received urgent news, he needed a triple bypass.
Within days, he was admitted to Westchester Medical Center for surgery.
“From the moment I met my surgeon, I knew I was in excellent hands,” Harris said.
The surgery was successful, and Harris spent about a week recovering. What stayed with him most was not the complexity of the procedure, but the people who cared for him along the way.
“The nurses were absolutely lovely,” he shared. “I felt calm and confident every step of the way.”
Following surgery, Harris continued his recovery through cardiac rehabilitation at HealthAlliance, where his care team supported him with vigilance and encouragement. “They were incredibly dedicated caregivers,” Harris shared.
Today, Harris is back to work and living life with renewed purpose, staying active, independent, and committed to his health
His story is made possible by coordinated, life-saving care — and by supporters like you.
