New & Noteworthy

Margaretville Hospital Heliport
When you or someone you love needs critical care, seconds matter. Helicopter air ambulances allow for rapid patient transport to highly specialized acute care when needed – for trauma, traumatic brain injuries, cardiac-related incidents, and more.
Our rural community landscape and current hospital infrastructure present time-to-treatment challenges in life-threatening instances where seconds matter. Currently, when transport helicopters are needed for Margaretville patients, they land in a space roughly half a mile from the hospital. The helicopters are not based, maintained, or fueled in this makeshift landing zone. Patients requiring air transport are shuttled by ambulance to this area, which must first be cleared by local responders.
Our Greatest Needs
Heliport
Constructing a permanent 43’ x 43’ heliport on the Margaretville Hospital campus, adjacent to the hospital entrance, will allow patients speedy and direct access between hospital and helicopter. The new heliport will be functional 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
