Margaretville Health Foundation

Welcome to the Margaretville Health Foundation! We create awareness, build goodwill and inspire support to help bring advances in healthcare to our community. The charitable gifts given by donors like you support Margaretville Hospital’s ongoing investments in healthcare – in building the healthiest community possible.

New & Noteworthy

Margaretville Hospital Heliport

When you or someone you love needs critical care, seconds matter. Helicopter air ambulances allow for rapid patient transport to highly specialized acute care when needed – for trauma, traumatic brain injuries, cardiac-related incidents, and more.

Our rural community landscape and current hospital infrastructure present time-to-treatment challenges in life-threatening instances where seconds matter.  Currently, when transport helicopters are needed for Margaretville patients, they land in a space roughly half a mile from the hospital. The helicopters are not based, maintained, or fueled in this makeshift landing zone. Patients requiring air transport are shuttled by ambulance to this area, which must first be cleared by local responders.

Our Greatest Needs

Heliport

Constructing a permanent 43’ x 43’ heliport on the Margaretville Hospital campus, adjacent to the hospital entrance, will allow patients speedy and direct access between hospital and helicopter. The new heliport will be functional 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Stories of Gratitude

“I can’t say enough about everyone who helped me. From the exceptional healthcare team at Margaretville Hospital to the first responders who literally carried me across the field to the helicopter. I was very lucky.” — Michael Wartman

“Quick diagnosis and decision making saved my life. I remember wheeling from the hospital onto the ambulance. We then traveled to a field behind the supermarket, which was lit by headlights, to an awaiting medevac helicopter. It took a few minutes, but it seemed like forever.” — Jack Zamor

“Margaretville Hospital is a very important institution to the community. It’s really critical for us to continue to have that service. I chose to go down to Westchester Medical Center because it was close to my doctors in the city. I was very well taken care of in the ambulance going down. The physician’s assistant in the ER was fabulous. He reached out to my cardiologist and his diagnosis was spot on. I’ve never seen an ER like that. I couldn’t get over all the monitors and all the people.” — Michelle Sidrane
